About the Book

And Thus It Was: The View of the Poet is the poetic endeavor of the author over a number of years.  Its four sections are an arbitrary attempt to organize a wide ranging collection of themes and moods.  Each piece is a complete expression of the author’s thoughts giving the reader something to ponder.  The book is designed for contented reading by the fire on a winter’s eve or on the breast of the hill on a bright sunny day.  The spirit is positive and at times thought provoking.  The reader will find very little hidden or obscure meanings in the text.  It is straightforward using syntax and rhythmn to carry the meaning of the wording.

About the Author

Ric Edwards was born in May of 1930 in Muncie, Indiana, the oldest of seven children.  The times determined much of the events that shaped his life.  He holds a BA in English from Olivet Nazarene University, Kankakee, Illinois and an MA in the Performing Arts with a concentration in Theater from Governors State University in University Park, Illinois.  He developed a deep love for literature and theater during his high school years in the schools of central Indiana and spent  40 + years teaching English, speech and theater in High Schools and Colleges of Japan, Bolivia and Illinois in the U. S.  His poetry has grown out of the experiences of these varied settings and circumstances but follows no particular pattern following a very straightforward presentation based in the mind set of the moment.
