About the Book

And so our evenings went on – with Jack, Bunny, Jessica, Josie, and each new friend that would every so often come knocking at the door, only to stay for quite a while, or so it seemed.

As the months went on, these ‘friends’ would have something to do with a child’s fears (Buzz and Honey Bee), a child’s curiosity (Uncle Wilber, who forever needed a haircut), a child’s drama (Robby Robin and Wiggly Worm), a child’s folly (Bones and Sister Bones), a child’s humor (Gray the Elephant), a child’s understanding (Bugsy Bug), and a child’s hero – one character who seemed to be the most fun for me – Pumpernickel.

Pumpernickel was Santa’s magic Elf, who missed getting back to Santa’s sleigh on Christmas Eve. Little did I know then that the children would learn yet another valuable lesson in life – having to say goodbye to a best friend, when Pumpernickel was to return to the North Pole on The Twelfth Day of Christmas. Even the end of this story is fulfilling, for we do indeed find the true answer to Jack’s jumping.

About the Author

Born in Wilkes-Barre, PA, Robert Cooper attended Penn State University and, upon graduation, moved to Rochester, NY, where he resides as a Systems Engineer. Robert has three children and prefers the name “Dad” to any other.

Publishing this book was simply an afterthought to a longtime promise he had made to himself and to his children – to preserve a bedtime story he had told to his children a decade before. He has been published twice in The Library of Congress for his Children’s Prose. He believes in writing as an expressive art form, even in simple letters to friends. Photography and Graphics Arts are a welcome relief from his professional analytical world in the engineering community.
