About the Book

In the story, Emili-Rose is the most celebrated character, who wants to be all that she can be and like the sands in the hour glass, she is compelled toward her destiny despite the ill-will and bewildering jim crow laws. Thanks to the firm and gentle prod of her parents. She is Utopia's dreamer, a Black female youth, sensitive and with her head in the clouds, but like Mumble in Happy feet, she is ever reminded by the jim crow laws that she is colored. Diifferent. Memoir of Emili-Rose-Celebration of a Journey is a work of nonfiction written in fictional narrative. The time is pre-World War 2, set in rural south-west Mobile, Alabama County. Each page relive true experiences of Emili-Rose and her family as they cope in a microcosm society. The story does not take away the victimizatiom of this Black family, nor does it take away from the biting stings that threatens a little girl's dreams, but in a gentle way, the author shares her heart through the eyes of a child, as only a child can tell. Emili-Rose invites you, the reader to a sobering, life-affirming, and exhilarating glimpse of her past.
