THE CONVENTION

“Your father is going to be speaking soon and he wanted me to come out here and wait on you to escort you in.  It’s my lucky day. I called for you just a couple of times and there you were, almost close enough to touch.”

Pausing with his fingers on his left hand touching his forehead, Michael reasoned to himself that his father often spoke at various public engagements.  While his father had not told him of any upcoming speaking events, he didn’t want to seem as if he wasn’t aware that his father was speaking.  Until he could make sense of things, he figured the best thing to do would be to go with her and hopefully figure it out there.  Besides, if his father was looking for him, he was obviously where he was supposed to be.

The woman, now within a single step of Michael said, “My name is Lillian, I’m so very pleased to meet you Michael.”  She placed one hand over Michael’s right shoulder and the other hand around his waist, embracing him as though she had known him forever. 

Michael thought to himself how beautiful Lillian was with her long blonde hair hanging over her shoulders and falling down to near her waist.  Somewhere in her mid twenties, she had the bluest eyes he had ever seen.  Her smile was the kind of smile that makes it easy for people to approach her - - glistening, yet humble.  The actual embrace was so incredibly warm and tender.  Michael immediately likened the feeling to some of the most touching moments of his life and he began reflecting on them.  The thoughts were racing rapidly through his mind, but he could make perfect sense of every thought and was visualizing the thoughts as fast as he was thinking them.
