About the Book

Karen is 52 years old. Like many women her age, she is risk adverse. She is comfortable in her life and has accomplished quite a bit, raising two boys, maintaining a household, and teaching English for nearly 30 years. But Karen is also very competitive and rather strong-willed (stubborn) . It was this combination of traits that provided part of the motivation for her to learn how to ride a motorcycle.

This book is an account of Karen’s experience as she gains her initial interest in biking, then moves from passive observer to active participant. It’s about fun and excitement, feeling the rush of adrenalin associated with trying something new and dangerous. Its about the fear associated with the unknown as well as the obvious. Its about the failure that came again and again and how she overcame adversity. And its about membership; to be associated with others of all types who are part of the motorcycle experience.

At 52 years old she learned to ride a motorcycle, and in doing so she faced her fears with tenacity and vigor. It was mentally and physically challenging for her…. and for me!
