About the Book

The book is a reaction to contemporary trends.  It describes a revolutionary way of treating truthfulness, honesty and deception. Does our civilization really possess an optimistic bias towards truthfulness?

Most people are offended by overt lies and some are duped by them some of the time.  Even so, we oil our social gears with white lies: not all people - some don't; others cause hurt; yet others suffer guilt.  The book shows how to draw maximum information from assertions - whether lying or misguided or sincere.  It shows how to use them to advantage by looking to the reality that underlies the words that are used, and by noticing the way they are used: words have a real meaning that is opposite to their intended meanings.  We reflect on this in the words we use.

A mainstream warning is supported, namely that our civilization is in fact endangered.  False communications threaten us, especially in our ever increasing power over the world, through science.  Radiative and chemical emissions harm us.  The book is well informed with regard to waste in science and industry and to dangers for public safety.  The treatment shows how individual survival is promoted by avoiding the ever more evident pitfalls.  Perhaps, by this means, our final hour can be postponed.
