Six Sigma
For the last several decades the
quality improvement concept has been part of every executive’s agenda to work
on. Hence, the quality gurus have introduced the new concepts to response to
the customer’s needs and requirements. Among the new ideas and programs, Six
Sigma has become synonymous with defect free low cost performance in the hands
of blue-chip companies such as GE and Motorola. Its power comes from the
relentless focus on the Voice of the Customer (VOC) and continuously defining
and improving on the processes that serve them until delivery is flawless. It
requires a new set of measurement techniques in order to comply with the
progress of industry.
As the industry progresses the
control of process becomes more sophisticated and critical for the
manufacturers as well as the customers.
