About the Book
There have been many stories, songs, plays and scripts written about Saint Nick, (also widely known as Santa Claus); however, the character in parts of this story is taken from the real life of the historical Saint Nicholas who by some accounts was of German decent. This story also embellishes the fairy-tale versions, of Saint Nick, his exploits and other well-known Christmas stories. Finally, this adaptation will expound on sequences that are based on true-life experiences as well as history of which many of us are familiar. This story takes place around the time of the Civil war, and fashions a person who is good-looking, talented, and because of his good nature, is loved by many. There is also another side of the character that portrays human weaknesses, lust, failures, strong, and sometimes uncontrollable emotions. I am a novice writer, who has done much research on the legendary Saint Nicholas. This story combines fiction with many historical facts and creates a very unique person. We begin with the parents and siblings of Saint Nicholas; we touch on the character’s childhood, reflect upon his youth, examine his adolescence, explore his manhood and conclude with segments of his old age. In addition, this story touches the essence of the way of life during those times and seeks to present a panorama of the family makeup, religion, friendship, work ethic, war, romance, racism, humor, nature, life and ultimately death as the final destination. Upon reading the story, one will see that it should not be characterized as a Christmas story, but rather as a diverse story filled with love, adventure, history, drama and suspense that can be read and appreciated in any season. I trust that you will find this to be a compelling depiction.
