Building Blocks of Light

Helping others to learn is easy – when you know how the human brain works.  I discovered the secret when I found Altered States of  Awareness a collection of articles by fourteen Engineers, Scientists and other experts which had been previously published by Scientific  American.

Simply put, authors of the articles explain that the human brain has four basic vibrational patterns.  Those which allow us to cope with the world about us start with 13 vibrations per second and are called Beta Rhythms.

But when the brain slows to between 12 and 7 vibrations per second – the Alpha Level - learning, problem solving, and all other mental exercises become remarkably easy.

Slowed further to the Theta Level – between 6 and 4 vibes per second – the brain falls asleep.  Deep sleep occurs when brain activity drops to the Delta Level – five vibes a second.

The Alpha Level is where we think clearly, learn, solve our problems, and heal our bodies.  My book Centering Your Guide to Inner Growth, which was prompted by the brain level

discoveries, has helped adults achieve their goals since its first publication in 1978.  Building Blocks of Lights will now do the same for children. This work resulted from a year of teaching an ADD youngster how to slow her brain activity in order to reduce her physical problems and learn easily.  Two brief chapters of Lynn’s experiences are followed by Building Block exercises for educationally challenged children.

Good students know how to concentrate: that is, ignore their surroundings enough to slow their brains to the Alpha level. Poor students, on the other hand, must be taught how to turn off the world of the five senses and become comfortable in Alpha.

Although the 12-7 vibrations per second area became synonymous with Extra Sensory Perception (ESP) during the Twentieth Century, we now know there is nothing weird or occult about it.  It is a normal brain level that can turn academically challenged students into competent learners.

Many counselors and teachers at the Elementary Level already use Guided Imagery to calm their classes. But Building Blocks of Light goes further – its information will enable you to help children “settle down and learn.”  It works wonders in a hyper-child emergency, but is equally great and more cost-effective for small group sessions.Some of the Blocks, especially A to D, are suitable for a full class, but those which require student interaction will be more effective with at least four but no more than six participants. Use the techniques at school and encourage parents to become acquainted with the procedures and reinforce them at home.
