Rachel Lindsay glanced in her rearview mirror and
immediately began to tremble. She
couldn't see the driver's face in the car behind her with the low-angled sun
sheening off the dirty windshield; she didn't have to. She knew the car, the driving style. It was Lucas all right, Lucas Bell. Yet, this time she was more angry than
afraid.
They had promised to warn her before he was set free
again, but what else could she expect.
After her "year of hell", she had become familiar with the
system and more a prisoner of it than Lucas had been. The law was so predictable and always, it seemed, on the wrong
side.
So there he was: out of jail and on the prowl again
– roaming around like a normal person, yet nutty as ever and eager to prolong
his sick little game. She imagined he
got off on it. This time she was afraid
he would kill her, and there was nothing, nothing short of killing him first
that she could really do about it.
Times like this she almost wished she were a man –
big, strong, and fearless. Able to
smash any punk who threatened her.
Confident that one swift retaliation would end it. Oh, right now, for just one such feeling.
At the moment, she was frightened. Alone and vulnerable and caught in the
frenzy of rush-hour – safely locked in a freedom machine, yet trapped. Alone in a herd on a highway to anywhere
with nowhere to go. Unable to get
immediate help, her prime thought now was to keep moving. She knew he'd surely get her if she stopped.

About the Book
THE STALKING GAME is a tightly woven
suspense/thriller novel featuring a woman in jeopardy.
The heroine, a registered nurse, falls into the
clutches of a maniac suitor who stalks and abuses her. While dealing with the stalker, she
accidentally uncovers a secret scheme by a U.S. Senator to develop and market a
cure for AIDS.
The senator, who stands to profit in several ways
from the development of the miracle drug, hires a hit man to kill the heroine
when he erroneously deduces that she has teamed up with the stalker to steal
the drug formula from him.
With help from her mother, several friends, and the
unexpected support form two unlikely sources, the heroine rises to the
challenge of overcoming the many fears that have plagued her life from without
and within.
About the Author
Rob Smith has a Bachelor of Science degree form The
University of South Carolina. He spent
five years in the U.S. Navy as a Naval Aviator/Carrier Pilot.
After his stint in the Navy, he spent two years
studying fiction writing at the famous Writer’s School of Westport,
Connecticut. He further honed his
writing craft by persistence and hard labor.
Rob has published several short stories, articles,
and essays in local regional publications.
The Stalking Game is Rob’s third novel, and he is currently working on a
fourth.
