About the Book
A Review of Cardiac Radiology, by John H. Woodring, M.D.,
has been written as a guide to help diagnostic radiology residents prepare for
their written and oral board examinations in cardiac radiology. Both adult and
pediatric heart disease are covered in this text. A broad range of basic
material, including anatomy, physiology, embryology, histology, pathology,
cardiology, pediatrics, thoracic surgery, and cardiac radiology, is covered in
detail in order to provide the reader
with the fund of knowledge necessary to do well on the written board
examination. In addition, the book provides the reader with an organized
approach to interpreting chest radiographs of patients with cardiac disease
which is very useful in performing well on the oral board examination.
Appropriate differential diagnostic lists are provided for key patterns of
cardiac disease encountered on chest radiographs. The uses of CT and MR in the
evaluation of cardiac disease are discussed in detail as well. This book was specifically
written to encompass written board questions and oral board cases encountered
by diagnostic radiology residents over the last 25 years. This book could also
be of value to board certified radiologists who are preparing for recertifying
exams in cardiac radiology.
