About the Book
Lester, a young black boy looks on as his mother
(Jasmine) struggles to raise her family alone, after being abandoned by the men
once involved in her life. Jasmine
refuses to gain insight on their where ‘bouts, having experienced bad
relationships she finds herself very bitter with the brothers, but hoping that
one-day a faithful man will lend her a hand.
She shares her disappointing life with her best
friend (Ebony). She’s a diva living
within her own high-class community, and is the very soul of Jasmine desiring
to lend her a hand, but Jasmine refuses to accept charity from the comrade,
feeling, “her troubles are her troubles.”
Ebony is the life of the relationship, keeping it
real, and down to earth. She badly
talks about the brothers, but finding herself not getting along without
them. The diva works for the railroad
on the top floor of the skyscraper making long bread, loving money more then
men, but preferring them both. The controlling diva lately marries a cope
(Dan), which his salary is no match with the diva’s salary.
Lester grows unhappy with the make-do family
determined to find his father (Goodwin) he goes on an exhausting manhunt,
hoping to bring him back to the black community realizing that he is the
valuable piece that can help mend the broken community. After the long search he stumbles across his
father.

About the Author
Myrna Lyn, born on Father’s Day to Reverend John
Oliver Laster Jr. and Mrs. Evelyn Bell Laster.
Myrna Lyn is the first born of triplet daughters, a native of
Jacksonville Florida. She now resides in Atlanta Georgia. Over a period of time
Myrna Lyn developed a deep passion for the seemingly fall of the Black Man. She
seeks to awaken the readers to a real consciousness of such misfortune and
raise awareness to the solutions that would incite him to rise to his rightful
image of existence.
Writing just wasn’t enough for Myrna Lyn, she is a
foster parent of two. After rising her four children as a single parent and
sending them on their way, feeling that it was time for her to really live, but
after meeting two beautiful young people that needed parents she then, learned
that reaching out to others is really living.
She earned a
degree in Biblical studies, and has returned to school pursuing her studies in
Christian family and marriage counseling, after developing a deep concern for
mankind, and finding time to be a wife to a wonderful man, mother, and
grandmother. Myrna Lyn strongly
believes in the lyrics of an old familiar song, “If I can help somebody as I
pass alone, then my living shall not be in vain.”
