I recalled another incidence. Quite some time ago,
for whatever reason, I had stopped in the beauty shop to see Nikki. She was not
expecting me. She seemed really glad that I surprised her and stopped in. She
told me that she and Liz were practicing writing their names differently. She
showed me a new way that she was writing her name and said it looked “cool” and
that she was going to practice it and change the way that she signed her name.
I wondered why anyone would want to do that. A signature is something that is
uniquely theirs. What purpose would there be in changing it? I passed it off
thinking they were probably bored that day and needed something silly to keep
themselves occupied. I believed that she would eventually forget about it.
Nikki’s handwriting was sleek and almost had a printed look to it. I could
recognize her handwriting in a minute. It was unlike anyone else’s.
I began to feel uneasy about this. I knew for a fact
that her signature was forged on those letters and wondered if Liz had something to do with this too, if she was
setting Nikki up so that her new signature would be easy to copy. I
wondered if she had this Bruce Lewis in the back of her mind for Nikki for
quite some time. Was she aware that he forged signatures and would eventually
forge Nikki’s too? Had this all been carefully planned between Liz and Bruce? I
didn’t tell my husband about this for many months. I told myself that it was
silly for me to even think such crazy thoughts and that it was all just a
strange coincidence. I found, however, that I couldn’t get it off my mind so
eventually I did I tell him.
After a few days, we finally felt rested and headed
back home ready to face life again. No one knew the time when we were coming
home. When we arrived, in the middle of the afternoon, on a weekday, within
minutes, we received a call from Derek. Here we were, right back into the thick
of it again. And so it would continue.

About the Book
As with most other parents who love their children,
we did everything we could to provide a good loving home for them. We nourished
them and taught them right from wrong. We took them to church and told them all
about good moral behavior and treating others the way they would like to be
treated. We loved them unconditionally. There were times when we laughed and
times when we cried. We had fun together and vacationed together; we were a
family. As our children grew, we grew in many ways too and together on this
journey of life we learned about each other. We were not wealthy, we were
average and ordinary, but we did whatever we could.
Our daughters are precious to us and like most
parents do, we tried to protect them and caution them against the evils that
are present all around us. We had challenges like everyone does, that is part
of life, but there was never a challenge so great as the one that was about to
change our lives.
After our youngest daughter’s recent divorce from
her husband of three years, we noticed that her personality was beginning to
change. What once was a close relationship with us suddenly seemed strange and
different. After having been together for a family celebration we were not
prepared for the news that we would receive just two days later. CONVINCED BY

About the Author
This former preschool teacher, and dental assistant
believes in the love of family, America, high moral standards, treating people
with respect and good common sense. She has been married to her high school
sweetheart for over 35 years. She is the mother of two grown daughters and four
grandchildren.
Hobbies include traveling, collecting post cards,
decorating, flower arranging, and spending time with her family and friends.
Her favorite books to read are inspiration, true stories, and self-help books.
Her favorite thing to do is playing with her grandchildren.
