Hope

Hope is an amazing little trinket,
That we carry around in our vest pockets.
It's something we carry throughout our lives,
Like a well worn family locket.

We depend on it constantly,
Especially through times of grief and despair.
It holds our hands like a loving parent,
Helping to reduce our burdens and cares.

Hope is what gives us enduring strength,
And the willpower to seek out the next day.
It's the guiding force behind us,
Allowing us to go forth and find another way.

Hope is what makes us human,
And reminds of us of just who we are.
It gives us a warm feeling inside,
And that our dreams aren't really afar.

Hope is one of the few things,
We can count on to be at our beck and call.
For as long as we have tomorrow,
Hope is for everyone ... one and all.

Laughter Is Food For The Soul

My family is practically all gone now,
God has taken them one by one.
Only faded photos and distant memories remain,
Of my kin playing under the warm sun.

I wish I could get back all the time I wasted,
On such things including foolish pride.
Because now when time is behind you,
You can't ignore what you feel inside.

So now each and every day I awake,
I thank him for the glory of life.
Trying not to take things for granted,
And handling my troubles with little strife.

For it is the smile coming from a child,
Or the beauty of love found everywhere.
This is what we must learn to embrace,
Not hate or petty selfish cares.

Keep in mind and never forget,
As each day you arise and plan your goals.
Pass along a smile to those you meet,
For laughter is food for the soul!
