About the Book
Black Legacy is an elating book of
poetry that takes you on a journey of the author's emotional past, challenging
present and liberating future. Not only
does she explore relationships of love, fantasy, disappointment and pain, she
opens the reader's eyes to enslavement, racism and discord that exist violently
between and amongst her people. She
also celebrates and pays tribute to black life. She enters into the world of Christianity sharing God's promising
love. She also reveals a vision of her
race of people all over the world, enriching and adoring one another
unconditionally, generating a flourishing outcome and overcoming as one nation,
so our surviving black sons and daughters will have a chance to fulfill and
endure a prosperous and generous future with their equal.
About the Author
The author, Debra Anita
Darks, was born June 18, 1963 in Lufkin, Texas. She was raised in Los Angeles, California. She is the daughter of the (late) Reverend
Ervin George Grant and his beautiful wife, Vertie Lee Grant, who raised her
with prominent Christian morals and values, which has affected and influenced
her life today. She graduated in 1981
from Crenshaw High School and received an Associate of Arts degree in 1984 from
Los Angeles City College.
The author enjoys family
gatherings, heart-warming movies, '70's era of fashion and music, spending
quality time with her son, Chazz Myles and her church-family, Greater
Deliverance in Inglewood, California.
The author has been writing poetry from early childhood and always
reflected her most imaginable inner-thoughts and daydreams on paper.
