About the Book

When we are grieving, religious clichés and sentimental books with flowery scripts may be weak medicine. The existence of an afterlife cannot be proved, we tell ourselves. Belief in an afterlife must remain forever in the misty realm of faith, we tell ourselves.

We need not rely entirely on blind faith, however. This Day in Paradise: Contemporary and Historical Evidence of Life After Death brings that misty realm of faith into sharper focus and shows, clearly and methodically, that good modern scientific technique is confirming what many religions and individuals have been teaching for thousands of years – that the person, with all of his or her uniqueness, continues to live after bodily functions cease. From the Bible to the Tibetan Book of the Dead, from Christianity to Zoroastrianism, the components of death have been largely consistent with the findings of modern studies. For those who cannot bring themselves to believe in an afterlife, this book offers a credible epiphany. For those who have always believed, this book offers a welcome confirmation. And for those who are suffering, this book offers the soothing balm of a hope based on fact.

About the Author

As a young man, Tim Ward was a member of a Catholic religious order and studied at Concordia University of Montreal. Deciding that the life of a "monk" was not for him, he left the order after three years. He later studied at Arizona State University where he graduated in 1990 with a BA in English.

Mr. Ward believes that, although no single church has a lock on the truth, the collective experience of mankind can teach us a great deal about God and ourselves. For the past ten years, he has worked professionally as a writer in Phoenix.
