About the Book

Verses: A Book of Love Poetry is a book about longing, the haunting of past loves, and the beauty of current love. What sets the book apart from others in this genre is that the book doesn’t follow a specific writing style. It’s not really poetry, not really prose, but something altogether more. It’s as if the author actually wrote his feelings down on a piece of paper. It’s almost as if the author gives us a glimpse into his mind, into his heart, and into his soul. The reader is taken on an emotional ride through the beautiful recesses of Cleavon J. Blair’s heart. A wonderful read--"
Melinda Miles

"These words are powerful. I let a few people read a few of these poems, and I swear it shook their souls. You should try and publish this work."
Charles A. Blair, Jr.
CEO C. Blair Enterprises, Inc

"I thought love poems had become like the noble knight of past...rusted and out of service, but your poem is truly a can of WD-40 to the world. I also know that this would still be one of the greatest poems I have ever read even if MY girlfriend's name was not Julie. Please keep writing. You have the gift."

"if every guy could write like you--"
Malissa Sue Cooper

"bittersweet and really lovely--."
Princess Darla

"my heart literally skipped a beat while reading this...this is sooooooooooooo good..."
Jessica Hicks

"--it’s just damn SEXY!!!"
Dawn Thompson

I wrote Verses: A Book of Love Poetry because I needed a few emotional wounds to heal. I had been through so much emotionally, in such a short period of time, that I never had the opportunity to deal with things. I knew that some day I would meet the woman that I would marry, and I didn’t want to take that baggage on my journey with her. So, I started writing, and it was such a cathartic experience. I could feel the weight of the past being lifted from me through these words. I feel like a new man, due to this. It’s a process that I feel everyone should try at least once in his or her lives.

After a while, I decided to share some of the words with close friends, and they all seemed to respond positively to what was written. I then decided to post some of the work on poetry sites, and read them publicly and everyone seemed to respond well. So, I finally decided that I would try to get the book published, and here we are--

I know some of the poems are long, and some of the themes are repetitive, BUT take a quick read. I’m sure you’ll find something in here that you can relate with. I’m actually pleased to be able to offer these words to you. Enjoy--
