Insatiable hunger of the world is upon our head
Machines, computers and high techno must be fed
Our hunger has but one season, her time is always
Regrettably, it replaces the nature of once ago days
Although we’re still hungry, Earth’s belly is full and hurts with pain
Still we push forward and move on believing there’s weight to gain
But before we push too far, let’s remember that the scale has a limit
And when the natural world has been devoured what then is to profit
I like the modern world too, don’t get me wrong
Too bad we have to destroy nature to get what’s going on
The paper, the plastic, the fumes, the waste
We made it, used it, need it, and now it’s shamelessly unreplaced
All the garbage in the landfills that no longer fit the city dump
And our Mercedes, Toyota, Chrysler, and Ford that only stop for the pump
We know about the ozone, the smog, the pollution
Fruitlessly we search while knowing there’s no resolution
For the new century I wipe a tear of discontent
In 100 years I’m sure Earth’s resources will fully be spent
Our progress is unstoppable it is reasonable to think
Don’t worry, carry some chemicals to add to your water and it’ll be safe to drink
But what about the air, once plentiful and free
The natural fresh water once clean with purity
What about the horse once cared for and rode out of sight
And man’s connection with nature that seemingly disappeared over night
Now the heaviness of the world hangs in the balance
And the soul of the world is not worthy of our imbalance
So teach the babes of the world to grow and learn
And pray they’re wiser than us when they discern
The long term effects and whether they’re right or wrong
But we have no guarantees in life so do be strong
Accept what we have and have not to happy your soul
And put your trust in God and our babes to fulfill the goal
-OUT OF EDEN-
Eye looked down through cloud and past mountain
And peered into the depth of the land
For I have greatest vision and see most certain
Thoughts of the mind and works of the hand
What were in their thoughts it stops me to think
For the land is grey and the elements are polluted and stink
It was mans’ idea of freedom to conquer land, air, and sea
But that freedom has bound them it appears to me
One particular vision I heard with great hurt
The foreman said, "Lets get that wood out of the dirt."
Now that wood was a forest that took time to grow
But they cut it down and planted cement, the seed they sow
I envision their autos travelling the roads to make life easier
All while knowing the exhaust brings harm to their mother nature
Their planes and rockets cover distance with speed
Burning up the oxygen they so vitally need
I see them traverse the waters in their vessels and ships
Some carrying toxic waste on their dumping trips
The toxins are sealed so as to pose no environmental crime
But guess what happens to those containers, just give it some time
Now my greatest vision I saw without question
It was the cry of a man with an unheard of suggestion
Take back the grey and give me what’s green
Take back the chemicals that make the water so-called clean
Take back the car, the ship, and the plane
I’d rather travel by foot or boat through snow, heat, and rain
Take back the fast food and meals in the car
I’d rather hunt, grow, gather, and do without from afar
Take back the work called job with all of its stress
And the falsehood of a smile in executive dress
I’d rather garden and live off the land
And be one with nature walking hand in hand
Take back the money and all that it buys
As well as the government with its secrets and lies
I’d rather barter and make an exchange with you
Creating a fair system that is honest and true
Take back the video and big screen t.v.
With all of its violence and killings I don’t care to see
Take back the computer and learn to think with your mind
In so doing your creativity and talents you will find
Take back the divorce and bitterness of heart
The selfishness and unforgiving that breaks families apart
And give me love for your neighbor in a world that’s clean
All respecters of persons, God, and Earth it is my dream
Word to my son with the heart that weeps for man and Earth
Know thee this of the mighty cycle, death preceeds new birth
So let man of the Earth stumble along his way
The cycle will make its circle but for now its only part way
