About the Book

In times of crises, unexpected people rise to the challenge. The story begins with the tragedies confronting a gifted, beautiful adolescent girl (Gwendolyn) and her little brother, Stevan. Gwen must overcome the tremendous hurdles set against her as a teenager. Her chances are slim, but with the help of Stevan and a young man who loves her, she begins to rebound. Still, her struggles follow her into adult life. As Gwen pulls her disjointed life together, greater trials await.

Stevan has a gift too, but it operates unknown for nearly thirty years until after he is arrested and charged with murder. Even with the discovery of Stevan’s gift, it is Gwen who must rise above her past to save her friends. Loyal to her friends, Gwen is asked to thwart a brutal man intent on gaining power and control. She does not comprehend why she is called upon, or how to accomplish the task at first, but she knows that it will require resolve and may demand the ultimate sacrifice. The tale follows Gwen’s odyssey to a supernatural discovery and a climactic test of wills on the high plains of Peru. Her trials, adventures and faith illuminate the grand possibilities reaching out to everyone.

Gwen and her brother’s story would not be known without the efforts of a flourishing, resolute detective. While investigating an attempted murder case involving Stevan as the prime suspect, the young detective is confronted with an inexplicable event that launches him into a fanatical search to explain the unexplainable. His investigation takes thirty years and centers on Gwen, an extraordinary woman with a checkered past and her mysterious brother. It opens a door to another world, into the mysteries of the universe.

About the Author

Born in the projects of Omaha, Nebraska, Arjay Emm liked to read, but never found English class or writing to his interest until late in high school. But by that time his love of science, particularly biology, overshadowed his budding interest to write a novel. Not until well after he received a Bachelors degree in Biological Sciences and a Masters degree in Zoology and producing numerous scientific and technical publications, did the itch to write a novel generate a plot in 1993 and then the drive to spend years putting the plot to words while working a day job. The kid who didn’t like English or writing found the hours and days rushing by at the keyboard, engrossed in the transfer of ideas and feelings into sentences, paragraphs, and chapters. The joy of seeing a novel take shape was consuming and much safer than wading in rapid waters collecting aquatic invertebrates, hanging out of helicopters counting spawning fish, or slogging through wetlands checking the condition of Spartina marsh or cypress swamp. Despite a tortuous path, Celadon Sky was at last created.
