If you have the desire to become a flight attendant, the first thing I want to say is "Don’t give up!" Believe it or not, getting the job as a flight attendant is very difficult. Everyday the airlines receive thousands of applications and it is imperative that your application gets noticed. You’ll be up against the Cream of the Crop and The Best of the Best. That’s why I am writing this book, to help you achieve your dreams as a flight attendant. I began interviewing in 1982 and continued these interviews until 1989. My first interview was with Republic Airlines. I was twenty-two years old and truthfully not ready for what I was trying to achieve and believe me, they knew it. Soon after, I was notified that the position was not available. That interview was just the beginning for me because this was the first of many. By the time I was through, I had interviewed with all of the Major Airlines. In December of 1989, I decided to give up my pursuit of being a flight attendant. The pressure of trying so hard to get the job and then being denied was overwhelming. My mind was made up, I told my family and friends that I was never going to interview again. Two weeks later, a flight attendant from Delta Airlines came into the department store where I was employed. As I assisted her, we began to discuss the flight attendant career. I will never forget the inspiration she gave to me when she told me not to give up. She offered to bring me an application the following week, to my surprise she did. Because of her words of inspiration I completed the application that evening and mailed it the following day. Two weeks later . . . my personal invitation for an interview arrived by mail. Soon after, I was hired! Believe me when I tell you, your dreams can come true. So, do as I did and "Follow Your Dreams." I hope the following information will help you fulfill your dreams!

At the tender age of seven, I was fortunate to have had my first flight on PSA. The flight attendants on board took very good care of me and soon became apart of my life. I traveled back and forth from Los Angeles to San Diego on a DC-9 in the late sixties and became familiar with the routine. Flying was already in my blood! On one of my flights to Los Angeles, I asked the flight attendant if I could pass out the mints. Impressed by my desires, she agreed and walked behind me as I passed out the mints to the passengers. Everyone thought I was cute wearing my Girl Scouts uniform and passing out the mints, I received compliments and tips from the passengers. One man gave me a quarter for my efforts. Later in my life, I began preparing for the position. I attended college and worked part-time in a department store. At the age of twenty-two, I had my first interview with Republic Airlines. The interview was a good experience for me, however two weeks later, I was notified that I wasn’t being considered for the job. I had several more interviews but it wasn’t to be in my life at that time. After years of interviewing, I was finally hired by Delta Airlines. Even after all the rejections, I never gave up! I knew that I would never be truly happy until I fulfilled my life long dream. So, do as I did and follow your dreams!
