Have you taken inventory of yourself lately? You have talents, skills, relationships, likes and dislikes a wide variety of other things that help define who and how you are. What kind of person are you and where are you headed? Often we let everyday life become so important that we forget about us. We forget about ourselves Monday through Friday because of our primary responsibility usually spelled j-o-b. Imagine putting the same amount of effort into yourself that you put into performing well in your employment. I wonder what you might accomplish. What is it that your creativity yearns to bring forth, a gift from above, a blessing to be shared? One thing is for certain, if your gift remains a mystery to you no one will ever know. How will you uncover yours?
The Path.
Where are the instructions?
What road should I take?
Is running recommended
When walking will suffice?
If I go too fast, I may miss the lesson.
Moving too slowly I am transfixed by what I see.
Motionless.
In the present, time moves and thereby moves me.
Life forces me into the lion’s maw unprepared.
Resistant, I flashback to my youth when I relished the opportunity.
Life continues.
In our present, we stumble and fall in life.
Always on the road to finding ourselves.
In facing temptations and illusions
Our reality is clarified, or we are forever distracted.
In the end the path remains,
A road less traveled, but where does it end?
Although others may walk with us for a time
We are on a solitary path.
You were born to walk that path.
A journey not to be completed by chance, but by choice.

Billy Torain was born in Muncie, Indiana and lived with adoptive parents, until he was seven. Through his school years Billy was a fairly good student who had a penchant for writing stories in English class. At eleven he identified that he wanted to be a writer, artist and speaker when he became an adult. Billy’s interest in personal development began when he was fourteen. He interviewed for a job for which he was denied based on his diction and presentation. Vowing that he would improve his communication skills he made a New Year’s resolution that turned into a lifetime habit. Billy presently lives with his wife and children in Chicago, Illinois. In the area of personal development he has been a mentor and given presentations to groups including high school students and adults on topics ranging from health and business to happiness and goal setting. Billy’s interests include writing, comic book collecting, reading, weight training, running and martial arts.
