About the Book

Oh . . . Those Hot Lazy Days of Summer is an intriguing culturally diversified love story. It challenges the many obstacles people face in a relationship that ultimately comes to test and prove their commitment to one another. It is both hilarious and rejuvenating in content as each of the characters express individuality. The time frame encompasses late spring through the early summer months.

LaMar West and Sheila Marvin’s eyes meet on one of "those hot lazy days of summer," and from that moment they knew that they were meant for each other. Although the pressure and demands would be that of their own corporations, hectic work schedules, co-workers, best friends, family members, and past relationships (which become more than a notion for them to work out).

Sheila Marvin is young, sophisticated, and single. A very success driven attorney for Marvin, Barry & Hughes, a law firm geared towards child and family services. Sheila claims to have no room in her schedule for a "social" life. However, her love life takes on an entirely different scenario, summed up in one word, boring.

Sheila carries herself with a type of dignity that illuminates her very essence. She’s also one that does not bite her tongue, so at times you will support her and in the next breath you will despise her as she speaks her mind. Having been on numerous unsuccessful dates, Sheila tries to convince her two law partners and confidante’s, Leslie Barry and Naomi Hughes during their "off-the-record" lunch hours that she is "happily single." In the meantime of waiting for Mr. Right, it is hard for Sheila to not get personally involved with her court cases surrounding a crack-exposed child custody suit, two malpractice lawsuits, and an adoption hearing. It isn’t until she finds herself pursuing another career interest outside of law that she finally sees "him."

LaMar West is sole proprietor of one of Jersey City’s largest clothing outlets for men, LMW for Men brandishing his own line of cologne, "Wild Wild West." He is sharp and very conservative, a lively and handsomely single entrepreneur in his early thirties, who finds himself attracted to the beautiful woman that sits a few rows ahead of him in his real estate class. He hasn't had much luck in the love arena either and tries to figure out a way to speak to her without losing the risk of seeming mannish or too desperate himself. He has a lot of "pride" and stands firm on his life’s decisions. It isn’t until he finds his "soul mate" that those decisions are jeopardized.

Compatible, amid their own stubbornness, LaMar and Sheila would need to learn how to overcome the obstacles that stand in the way of their happiness. Would they be able to come together as "one" before summer’s end?
