About the Book

Jesus is the oldest brother in a family with four other brothers and two sisters besides his mother Mary. You will read about Jesus falling in love but not marrying. You will learn about his physical and spiritual struggles with his fiercely unbelieving brother Simon. You will learn about Jesus' hidden years, spent in travel abroad to see the wisdom of other lands.

You will meet a Mary who has to contend with the daily heartbreaks of raising a large family after the death of her husband Joseph. Mary intervenes when the quarrels between Jesus and Simon become too heated. And as if she did not have enough problems she somehow must find time to arrange for the marriage of her oldest daughter Ruth.

About the Author

Youngest son of an Italian immigrant family of ten, Filippone spent 26 of his 42 working years in public education as a teacher and administrator, plus 16 years as Director of a nonprofit agency for the developmentally disabled in upstate New York. His late wife Florence was the mother of his three grown children: Julia, Salvatore Frank, and William. His growing interest in the human life of Jesus prompted this picture of Jesus as a member of a typically large Jewish family trying to cope with their efforts to understand someone they regard as a very peculiar brother.
