About the Book

Rattlers & Snappers is a compilation of the writings, words, and talents of several people.

The teachings are presented in a narrative format and cover the biology, habits, and habitats of some of the snakes and turtles native to North America.

The tales and tidbits celebrate the interactions of man and beast in the mountains of north central Pennsylvania.

Vance Dunbar is the primary voice of the book. He is employed by a conservation agency in Pennsylvania and has spent several years presenting reptile programs to diverse groups of people across the state. His program aims to dispel the myriad myths surrounding snakes and turtles in general, and Timber Rattlesnakes and Snapping Turtles in particular. Dunbar’s voice blends well with those of others he has met during the course of his travels.

This book was written for the Conservation Officers of Pennsylvania Association (COPA). A portion of all royalties from the sale of this book will be used to support youth environmental education and recreation programs.

Open your mind to this work and you will walk away with a wealth of shared experiences . . . and a smile on your face.
