Megan was getting scared of everything and every sound around her. She convinced herself to find a safe place to sit down for a moment and try to figure out what to do now. She spotted a hollow tree that had been blown over onto the ground by the wind or weather.
"That tree is as good a place to rest and think, as any," she said aloud, while walking toward it.
She was feeling very weary, hungry and alone. It must be about dinnertime, she thought, as she looked up to find the sun. The trees were so tall and thick, that they not only blocked the sun from her view, but the sunlight from the lower forest floor as well. It was getting darker by the minute! The tears were stinging her big brown eyes while she was trying desperately not to give in to the terror she was feeling.
Sitting very still, she could hear her own heart beat. It was beating harder than it ever had before! Focusing on the noises in the forest, she didn't believe her ears! She thought she heard someone say, "PSST PSST." Megan looked all around and shouted, "is someone there?"
"PSST PSST. Down here!" Megan looked down. There, beside her foot, was the scariest thing she had ever seen! She screamed as loud as she could!
"WHY ARE YOU MAKIN’ THAT BLASTED NOISE," asked the creature?
Megan jumped up and leaped behind the tree trunk where she had been sitting.
"What are you," she screeched?
"I am an Armadillo, of course," he replied, as he took a step closer to her.
"An Armadillo, isn't that an animal," asked Megan?
"Yes it is. I mean, YES, I am. You can call me Army!"
"Wait just one minute. Animals can't talk and they certainly don't give themselves names," Megan insisted!
"Says who," scowled Army?

About the Book
The Adventures of The Little Girl With The Big Brown Eyes chronicles one young girl’s journey into a magical place deep in the forest.
Megan’s parents warn her not to go into the forest that is right behind their new home. Megan tries hard to obey them and she usually does well, but one day she sees a pretty little bird and cannot resist the urge to follow it into the forest. After chasing the bird for many hours, Megan realizes she is lost. Fortunately she is able to make friends with two characters named Army and Buffett, who take her on a magical adventure to help her find her way home.
About the Author
My name is Gay Nell Logston, I am a native West Virginian, and very proud of that fact. I enjoy watching children laugh, which is the main reason I began writing. My children have always loved the time we spent reading together, especially at bedtime when I would make up stories that included them or read them their favorite book.
Each and everyone has fantasies and dreams. My advice to you is to let your imagination run wild, always take time from your ever busy life for your children, let them know they are loved and never admit to being grown up yourself!
My hobbies include writing, reading, computers, swimming, hunting, fishing, and horseback riding.
