About the Book

Sea-Mail is a true adventure story about a seventeen-month sailboat trip from San Diego to Florida, then south to Antigua and back to Florida. Throughout the book, you get a fresh prospective about living a non-traditional, almost dreamy lifestyle. The adventure takes the reader to many countries and islands, through different weather from dead calms to hurricanes, and touches various human feelings that come up while cruising. Its format includes actual log entries, diary notes, and a male and female point of view.

About the Author

Scott Dallman purchased his first sailboat, a forty-one foot ketch, in San Francisco in 1989. He then moved aboard and taught himself to sail, taking advantage of the bay area conditions. He left the bay a year later, by boat, for the warmer Southern California coast, where he engulfed himself in sailing and cruising activities. Scott scrounged experience on every boat he could and earned a Coast Guard 100-ton license in 1996. Marjorie and Scott met in Dana Point, California, where they began planning their cruise. Grand Oasis was chosen as the vessel for their cruise in 1995. While preparing Grand Oasis in San Diego, Cpt. Scott and Marjorie delivered yachts for local brokers, including some to Mexico and other foreign locations. This helped them decide to head towards the Caribbean. Cpt. Scott has since operated luxury power yachts but is once again working sailboats in the Caribbean. Cpt. Scott and Marjorie now run a catamaran charter out of Tortola.
