In a matter of seconds, the poodle lunged out at me. I found myself screaming for the dog to get away. A woman came out of the door and yelled, "Tootsie, go back in the yard." The dog immediately obeyed. The woman turned to me. "Can I help you, miss?" "Are you Amy Shaw?" "Yes, I am," she replied in a stern voice. "Well, I'm Nancy Brentwood's attorney and I would just like to ask you a few questions." She nodded. I wondered if that meant she'd answer the questions or if she had some sort of nervous condition. I thought I'd ask the question again. "Are you willing to answer a few questions?" "Yes dear, I'll answer a few questions, if you'd like." ***** "The court calls Alex Cooper to the stand." I turned my head and saw Mr. Cooper coming towards the witness stand. The prosecution began its questioning. "Mr. Cooper can you please tell the jury and this court your name and occupation?" "My name is Mr. Alex Cooper and I'm the president of Procter, Sims and Helms." "Mr. Cooper, do you know a woman by the name of Nancy Brentwood?" "Yes, I do." "Can you tell us how you happen to know Miss Brentwood?" "She was my personal secretary at the firm." "Did Miss Brentwood have knowledge of the security codes for the safe at the firm?" "Yes, she did." "Was there anyone else other than Miss Brentwood that you gave that information to?" "No, there was not." "Thank you, Mr. Cooper. I have no further questions." The question was put to me whether or not I wanted to cross-examine. "I would like to cross-examine." I stood up and approached the stand. "Mr. Cooper, how are your financial affairs with the firm?" Mr. Cooper looked startled by the question. "I don't know what you mean, the finances are fine." "Mr. Cooper, isn't it true that a year ago the firm was considering going out of business, because of financial problems?"

Rhonda Jackson has been writing ever since her early teenage years. Ms. Jackson received the Award for Literary Excellence in 1999 from the National Author’s Registry. In that same year, she was named Poet of the Year and awarded the Diamond Homer Trophy for her poetry. She is a graduate of New York University, and is devoted to giving writing and poetry workshops in the New York City area. She volunteers her free time to several organizations, especially Literacy Volunteers. Writing has always been Ms. Jackson’s passion, to which she will devote herself for many more years to come.
