About the Book

Behind L.A. Law is a book of true stories about various experiences encountered behind the scenes of the legal business in Los Angeles. It is written as a roman clef and all names have been changed to protect the guilty but every story and experience is true. The book is sometimes funny, sometimes the stories are sad, but it remains accurate to what really goes on in law. The book should be read by anyone contemplating entering the legal field, by law students and by anyone looking for an entertaining look into (and reality check about) lawyers and law firms.

Most people, unless they have a lawyer in their immediate family, don't know or even care about what goes on with lawyers or law firms. Catherine was no exception. She had gone to attorneys for her divorce once and remembered going to her parents' attorneys when her father passed away. Other than that she had had no reason to be involved with lawyers in any matter. She had always considered the law to be slightly boring and stuffy, definitely not a field of interest for movers and shakers, the rainmakers and the doers of the world. She had never dreamed that events would throw her right into the legal business of Los Angeles during the late 80s and early 90s, exposing her to the vast underbelly of the legal profession in Southern California, the so-called forerunner of the legal world!
