One could say that W. Calvin Brown in his youth, was unusually reticent; but his reservation made him quite a unique personality. For he was admired for his docility and retractable status. He was most adherent to both social and religious laws. Mr. Brown, after completing prescribed studies at Dunbar High School in Washington, D.C., enlisted into the U.S. Navy where he became stimulated in the studies of literature. He entered Howard University, majored Art and English, wrote plays, and directed productions for churches and schools. After leaving college, he taught English in a Naval Industrial Institution. During these years, he made a very indelible transition; no longer permeated with disquietude or tranquility in rendering his opinion. In short, he became verbally aggressive. These poems were written over a period of 20 years. Today, he devotes his time to charity work and writing. It is high hopes that you find these poems and proverbs exciting and inspirational. W.
