About the Book
Action-suspense-romance thriller set in the early 1980's in the
lush greenery of Guatedora, a tropical Central American country, where the
government is waging an undeclared war against its indigenous population.
The story centers on the actions of Cloudia Patina, a plucky woman
in her early twenties, who boldly ventures to El Centro Security Prison to
rescue her American boyfriend, Dr. Kevin Boyle, who has been
"disappeared" for stealing toys. The toys had originally been given
to the President of the country by the American First Lady and meant for
homeless indigenous children, but the playthings had been secretly stashed by a
ruthless army colonel who intended to resell the toys for profit.
Time is running out, as Cloudia attempts at all odds to succeed at
rescuing Kevin from prison before the brutal colonel arrives to teach him a
lesson the American doctor may not survive.
Using a series of flashbacks and flash-forwards to embellish
character motivations and situations, Extremely Urgent attempts to
involve the reader in the reality of living in a modern third-world country. Extremely
Urgent brings to life the arrogance and terror of Central American death
squads as well as the humanity of the people who strive to survive in the
militia's wake.
