Chapter 4. What we need now is just a touch of Bible prophesy to liven things up a bit
Is the Bible inspired by God or is it a compilation of men’s thoughts and predictions? Well, up to now we have shown what the writers testified. And we have also seen that what they state is the only reasonable answer to the problem of consistency throughout. So, we have developed a real logical foundation to build on. Now, let’s see if we can fortify that position. What needs to be done right about now is to prove inspiration. What do you think? What I mean is that it’s time to try to prove that God, in fact, inspired human secretaries to write. Want to take a crack at it? To accomplish this we must delve into Bible prophesy a little. What is this thing called prophesy? What does the word mean? To prophesy, is to foretell the future. Some call it, "history written in advance." Think about this expression a moment. Before a historical event takes place, it had already been written about (in exact terms) years before. To begin with, I want to show you that this is precisely what God claims to have done. Look at this now in the pages of the Bible. One of his writers, the prophet Isaiah in chapter 55 and verse 11 AAT, makes the following statement: So shall my word be that goes out of my mouth. It shall not return to me fruitless, without having done the thing that I pleased, And accomplishing the purpose for which I sent it.
Now note, please, in verse 25, chapter 44 NIV of Isaiah’s prophecy, what he says about others who try to foretell the future on their own:

The Bible’s basic theme involves a majestic mystery
Here now, before continuing I would like to consider a special piece of evidence to bolster up your conviction concerning the Bible’s being our Creator’s inspired book for us. Stop, please, and meditate a moment. As a member of the human race that is in need of a lot of help, please accept this work as being my great endeavor to prove to you where that help is! So, how about our working on the following questions? Do you think that God knows that we need help? Has God done something to help? Is what he has done to help us, disclosed for us in the Bible? To answer these questions we must embark upon a study of history’s most baffling and important mystery. And do you know what? You and I are now going to be the detectives assigned to solve the mystery! Shall we start? Let’s go...! First of all, the mystery is set out in a Bible text. Please note, in the very first book of the Bible, Genesis, at the outside of man’s creation, we find God making a promise to regain the paradise that was lost by the rebellion in the garden of Eden. Here it is, Genesis chapter 3, and verses 14,15 NIV. But can you understand it? You are the detective--you better be able to! Directing his attention to the "serpent," God says: So the LORD God said to the serpent, .. "And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; He will crush your head, and you will strike his heel."
This is really what we might call a little, big statement. It is brief, but holds the key to the answers to our above questions! There is very much here, but let’s just take the key points of the mystery. All right? Good. What can you detect?

About the Author
The author has had university level studies during his lifetime. For the past forty years he has been a public lecturer and counselor on subjects related to the authenticity of the Bible, fulfillment of prophesy, and the Bible’s successful application in every day life. His studies have taken him from the United States to Europe, where he had spent about ten years. The author is now retired and is free to compile his extensive material and write. Many, many different points of view have been evaluated so that what is presented in his work is what is found as factual and a real basis for a better way of life. Now, for the author’s personal religious convictions -- he is writing to people of all religions, and also to those with no religion. He is not writing from the stand point of what any religion teaches, but rather is presenting the Bible for independent, open-minded consideration. This is happily seen when the pages of his work are examined. Therefore, it is imperative that one is not stopped short right at the outset due to possible religious bias. By reading Sharper Than Any Two-edged Sword, one can judge for himself the author’s qualifications, his purpose, and the value of his work.
