About the Book

Jihad: World War in 2036 is a finely tuned saga combining military strategy and tactics, political machinations, religious fervor and powerful character portrayals in a frighteningly realistic scenario of World War III.

It's the year 2036, and The Faithful, a group of North African Islamic nations, are plotting to seize the oil resources of the Middle East. By controlling the earth's oil and its major trade routes, they plan to bring the world to its knees. Then, when the entire world is kneeling, the Faithful of Allah will read to them from the Koran, preaching the message of Islam, the True Faith. The Faithful will stop at nothing to achieve their goal. But how far will they go? And how many lives will it cost?

About the Author

First Lady of the Techno-Thriller

MacDonald Reid is a noted scientist, historian and educator. Her interest in military history began in early childhood. She had read Samuel Elliot Morrison's thirty-plus volume epic, A History of the United States Navy in World War II, by the time she was twelve. She also wanted to fly the North American F-86 Sabre, even though, at that time, women weren't allowed in the regular military.

Educated as an analytical chemist, Reid developed and used sophisticated scientific instrument for over twenty years. As the computer revolution overtook her, she became involved with Computer Aided Drafting. She now teaches CADD professionally.

Reid's vocations and avocations are reflected in her epic novels of war. Her background in education is reflected in her clear style, laced heavily with humor. The technology she describes in her books has been thoroughly considered.

Perhaps Reid's greatest asset is her grasp of history. Her characters aren't cardboard cutouts. Instead, they ring true to the societies of their time. Wars occur in Reid's novels, but not because of some contrived conflict between Good and Evil. They happen because the goals, purposes and ideals of different societies can be in conflict. Reid's books show us what could happen if these differences cannot be resolved peacefully.

In this regard, MacDonald Reid's novels serve as a warning to us all. In an age of increasingly sophisticated weapons, proliferation of weapons of mass destruction and international terrorism, Reid's scenarios are frighteningly realistic.
