Sam and I got a cup of coffee from Crazy John's, then we walked to the corner of Baltimore and Gay Streets, when Prince caught up with us with this bitch named Sue. I haven't seen this bitch in five years. She spoke to Sam, then turned to me and said, Silky, I heard that you were writing a book. I told her I was, and she told me, Silky, I have a story to tell. I said, give me the run down. She told me, since I last saw her, she had got into that bondage shit. She liked giving people ass whippings. So, one night, she tied a man up and started whipping him until he had a heart attack and died. Now, she ties a bell around their ankle, so when they get enough ass whipping, they kick their foot, and the bell rings, and she stops beating them. She said her clients were doctors and lawyers, and she made a thousand dollars a person. She had a slick Cadie and diamonds on her fingers and went on and on about how good she was, and the bitch had enough heart to tell Silky, if he wanted an ass whippin', she would do me half price. I said, bitch, are you crazy? You freak mother-fucker. I will brake your mother-fuckin' neck, whore, if you don't get the fuck out of my face. Bitch, do I look like some kind of freak to you, whore? I'm a mother-fuckin' pimp, bitch. The Number One pimp in the country, bitch. I pimp bitches like you for a living, and whore, if you stay around me another minute, I will pimp the shit out of your punk ass. The bitch ran down the street saying, Silky, baby, I was playing, Daddy. I know you are the master pimp of the country. I was joking, baby. I said, bitch, joke with your freak buddies, not with Silky. I don't joke, bitch, and don't you bring your punk ass in my face no more.
Prince and Sam laughed until they cried. They laughed so much, I had to laugh my mother-fuckin' self. That bitch was out of her goddamn mind. I know one thing, I will have nightmares about this bitch whippin' my ass, and that's no bull-shit. I should get in my Benz and run over that bitch, the stinking low life mother-fucker.

Well, let me take you down memory lane where you have 'Humpty,' who is the author of this book, who was one of the best players in Baltimore, and you can take that to the bank. But, you also have the rest of the pimps and players, like Pimping Prince, my main man. We grew up together, and Square Ass Earl. He worked in The Little Tavern as a cook, but he left to drive a cab to hang out with the players in the nightlife. You know, he got a kick out of hanging around pretty whores. Then you have the rest of the suckers who wanted to be pimps and players. Now, sit back and let me give you the 'real deal' of the World's Famous 'Block.'
About the Author
Even before I first contemplated writing 'Players Of The Block,' I used to sit at the Inner Harbor during the early morning hours, sifting through many painful memories. People would pass me by and seeing the smile on my face, they never saw the rage and hatred that permeated the soul of my very being. Where did I fit into this world, and how would I get there? Do you have an answer where do you fit in and how do you get there?
Finally, I realized that becoming an author was a reality that I accomplished, finding the motivation by witnessing the legit side of life scamper by, and realizing that I really did not want to their lifestyle; I wanted street life, the ultimate of hell if for only one day. That reality meant answering many lingering questions of whether I should write another book, and if so, which direction should I take in its creative holdings to share with others who would read my thoughts and visualize my deeds in their own square and devious minds. Yes, it is time for me to share exactly how I really feel in your world. I look not for the constant cunning and devious minds that the majority indulges in, whether they will admit it or not. But when I realized that I did not like what I saw in the square life, how could I then let the same squares know that they were no different than me, and yes, in many circumstances, they were even more devious than the small stuff I would indulge in. So as you sit back to read the words of a 'player' that has seen the best of both worlds, understand that I can laugh at what I do, because I know why I do it. I don't have to use subterfuge to chase after the ladies of the night. I don't have to scam when I'm looking for that sucker, because the square thinks he has the edge, the fool that he is. So gather round, one and all, and listen to the wisdom of a man who has been, returned, and went back. You will at one point see yourself, as if my image was your mirror. But, as I laugh at such thoughts, read on as the pages pass by, for we will walk a little of this journey together.
