About the Book

On the 250th Anniversary of the United States of America – a nation of immigrants – it is very important to recognize and celebrate the stories of the many millions of immigrant families who came from all over the world to achieve the American Dream and to build the American nation. This is the story of the immigration of the Rezek and Kraman families.

About the Author

Paul D. Kraman earned a BA in English from Marymount University in Arlington, Virginia and a MA in History from George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia. He had a long professional career in Urban and Water uality Management Planning at the local government level in the Midwest and at the national and international levels in Washington, DC. His interest in history and family history began when he was seven years old in 1939 and his family began following the events in Europe and in Asia over their new Philco radio console that was designed to pick up overseas radio broadcasts. However, a short wave antenna would have been needed to pick up the radio signals from overseas. In 1942, the family’s oldest son, Donald, enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Force and began training as a fighter pilot. After that, Paul’s father, Frank, began following the war news every evening and Paul was the only one of the young children who shared his interest and late hours. After the war, Paul’s interest in history became a life-long and dominant interest. History was an import element in his urban planning and management career, as well as his family life.
