About the Book
Living by one value a week can quietly but powerfully transform your year, because it turns growth into a lived experience rather than a lofty ideal. When you focus on a single virtue, like Patience, Gratitude, or Courage, and give it your full attention for seven days, you begin to see how it threads through every decision, interaction, and emotion. Over time, 52 weeks become 52 layers of wisdom, shaping not just what you do but who you are. The transformation is not sudden or dramatic; it’s steady, like the slow turning of seasons, until one day you realize your life reflects the very values you once only admired.
About the Author
Perspectives are shaped by life experiences. Truth be told, I have been fortunate to receive advantages that many others have not, and I hold deep gratitude for them. Because these privileges were not earned but simply given, I feel it is important to acknowledge how they influenced the development of my views. For context, I believe it matters to recognize the characteristics, whether physical, mental, or emotional, that shaped my perspective, so to better explain why I see the world as I do. After being born and raised in America, you can’t help but know that in American society, certain unearned traits can offer significant advantages. I was born into many of these, and they undeniably shaped the way I perceive life. As a tall, thin , white, heterosexual, male, I often say you won’t meet a luckier person than me; I’ve been spared struggles that many people inevitably face. Recognizing this privilege is essential, not only to give clarity to the lens through which I speak, but also to lay the foundation for the positive message I hope to share. Mark Avery
