My Life in Brief

It was bitter cold. But he was lost in his thoughts. He walked slowly down the snow-crusted road as he gave way to his thoughts. He began to pray and then to cry. Then he prayed and cried some more, and more still, prayers and tears of gratitude. With regards to Pop, Denny suddenly had a thought which he had never had before in his life -- "He needed love, too," he thought. He stopped and held his head. "I see if now!" he shouted aloud. "At last, I see it! He needed love, too. The hitting was just a symptom. So was the drinking. He needed love, too. Finally, calmed down, he turned and hurried back toward the cabin. "My God, I couldn't have lived if I had let him die," he thought. "We needed to find him. Thank you, Lord, for letting me live. Thank you. Thank you." In a short time, he was in the cabin, hurrying out of his clothes and into the bedroom. Then he slowed down not to wake his brother as he got into bed. In a minute he was fast asleep. By the expression on his face, he had found a place of peace and bliss.
