Mae's Mom's Adventure

In a house in the town of Lemont, there lived a girl. Her name was Mae. Mae lived in this house with her mom, dad, her sister and her cat, Paws. On a Saturday morning, Mae woke up in the mood to play. Mae loved collecting, trading, and playing with fidgets. Today however, she wanted to play with friends. The problem was everyone already had plans. Mae slumped down at the kitchen table. Her mom was in the kitchen finishing the dishes from breakfast. “Mae”, her mom said, “What’s wrong?”. Mae replied, “No one can play”. “I am sorry to hear that Mae, Do you want me to play with you?”. “Yes!” replied Mae with excitement. Mae’s mom finished up the dishes and went to join Mae in her bedroom. She sat down on the floor next to Mae on the fuzzy pink rug in the middle of the room. She could see the excitement in Mae’s eyes as she sat. Her heart sank. Mae’s mom was worried, and Mae could tell. “What’s wrong Mom?”, asked Mae. “I forgot how to play”, her mom said with sadness. Mae’s mom had spent so much time lately cooking, cleaning, working, and taking care of the family, she had lost her imagination. “That’s okay mom let's try to get your imagination back.”, said Mae. “Sure honey, we can always try”, said Mae’s mom. “Close your eyes”, Mae said to her mom. “Now picture yourself far away in a land with no end in sight.
