The New Girl

About the Book

The New Girl is about a girl named Katie. She is going into a brand-new school and going into 4th grade. Katie on her first day meets the school bully, Maggie. Maggie is mean and rude to Katie. But because Katie showed Maggie kindness, Maggie slowly became nicer and nicer. Because of kindness Katie and Maggie created a lasting friendship. That lasts throughout their whole lives. Kindness is the best thing you can show someone. If you show kindness you can create new friends and open more doors.

About the Author

Hello reader, my name is Julia Ivie. I was born on June 18th 2008. I live in North Grafton, Massachusetts. I have one younger brother named John. I have many hobbies, I love to do Jiu Jitsu, Dance, sing, song writing, and reading. What inspired me to write this book was my experience with bullying. When I was in 4th grade I was bullied. She would almost everyday threaten to hurt me. Every day I felt scared to tell on her because she told me that if I told on her she would break every bone in my body. One night a couple months before the end of the school year, my parents were tucking me in and I told them what she was telling me every day and what she threatened to do to me. My parents told me to go to my teacher and everything would be better. The next day I told my teacher and she sat down with me and the girl who was bullying me. We talked about what was happening. Afterwards I felt so much better, I didn’t feel scared anymore. I wrote this book during that summer.
