This book intertwines the history of an extended family, with the history of New Orleans, Louisiana, the country, and the world. This history is an attempt to show the culture of the city and how that culture can be explained by the confluence of peoples amalgamated in this family's history. This book is the story associated with that history. In this story, the culture of New Orleans is seen and documented. This family history is about one extended family that is the culmination of many, many families and people. It is the family history of the Bourg family, the Talbot family, the Young family, the Rappold family, the Favret family, the Landry family, the Develle family, the Jung family, and the d'Hebecourt family.
About the Author
James A Bourg Jr. was born and raised in New Orleans, La. He has been living in the city for 73 years. He has been studying the history of his family for forty-five years. This combination gives him experience as to the impact of his extended family's history on the culture of this unique city. Jim is a scientist, a teacher, and a pseudo-historian. He has a master's degree in Quality Management from Loyola University in New Orleans. Jim worked for Hewlett Packard Co. for 20 years and Agilent Technologies Co. as a Quality Manager, for 15. He taught Chemistry and Statistics to high-school students. He is also a family man with a beautiful wife, three sons, and eight grandchildren, which he cherishes very much. This book is his first publication.
