About the Author

Hello, my name is Dionicia (Nicha, Nichita). I am the youngest of four children. I am Mexican American born in San Francisco, California. I am a self-taught artist, and the author and illustrator of this book. This is my first publication. It all began one day with my mother sharing her childhood memories. We had heard this story many times before but this time her enthusiasm inspired me to draw my visions. When I finished the drawings, I realized that my mother’s childhood was the happiest time of her life. Thank you for reading this story. Hola, mi nombre es Dionicia (Nicha, Nichita). Soy la menor de cuatro hijos. Soy mexicoamericana nacida en San Francisco, California. Soy una artista autodidacta, y la autora e ilustradora de este libro. Esta es mi primera publicación. Todo comenzó un día con mi mama compartiendo sus recuerdos de la infancia. Habíamos escuchado esta historia muchas veces antes, pero esta vez su entusiasmo me inspiró a dibujar mis visiones. Cuando terminé los dibujos, me di cuenta de que la infancia de mi mama fue el momento más feliz de su vida. Gracias por leer este libro.
