About the Book

The book, The Odyssey, is the story about my father-in-law, mother-in-law, and my husband’s older sister, Edith. They were taken from their home and put on a truck that was destined to the train station in Micholovce. The truck broke down, and the people were told that they would have to march to their destination, which was Auchwitz. The story tells of how Joseph plotted their escape. The story tells of how they escaped and how they hid in the caves of the Tatra Mountains. The story also tells of where they went in the mountains and who they met. The story is based on a true story. It is a unique and powerful story as well as captivating, intriguing, and interesting to read.

About the Author

Cheryl Freier is the author of this novel, The Odyssey: Joseph’s Story. Cheryl grew on a poultry and produce farm and learned all about living on a farm at a young age. She attended Fairleigh Dickinson University and then attended Framingham State University where she received a master’s degree in Reading and Language Arts, and a second master’s degree in Special Needs. Cheryl’s husband was a young boy in Nazi Slovakia and Cheryl’s mother-in-law told her the stories of her survival during the Nazi siege of Slovakia. Cheryl writes her husband, Martin’s story. She wants the people in the world to read his story and to learn how he survived and renewed his faith in G-d. The Odyssey is the seventh novel in the series and is a fine example of Cheryl’s ability to portray the characters in a skilled expressive style. As one reads, one feels the emotions of the character and sympathizes with his plight. One hopes for a good ending of the story.
