About the Book

Darren the Dragon Takes a Bath is about a friendly dragon with large feathered wings and a red crown on top of his head. After a year of sleeping in caves and flying in the rain, snow, and wind, Darren looks forward to his yearly bath. The first Saturday of September, Darren the Friendly Dragon flies into the small mountain town of Newton to take a bath in the large fountain located on Main Street. The streets are lined with booths of popcorn, cotton candy, pink lemonade, and ice cream. The children and their dogs are running and playing in the streets as everyone waits for Darren to fly into town. After his bath, the children line up to take a ride on Darren’s back.

About the Author

Diana Leadman Becher grew up in the small town of Hurricane, West Virginia, where church, family, and community were the focus of her childhood. Diana shares a love of books as did her mother, who read Bible stories and many of the Golden books to her children and grandchildren. Diana and her husband live in Hurricane with Speckles, their dog, and Diana’s ninety-one-year-old father. Their daughter, Melanie, and her husband, Rob, live in New Jersey with their children. Darren the Dragon Takes a Bath is the first book in a series Diana plans to write about Darren, a friendly dragon, and his adventures.
