About the Book

This book takes place in rural South Sudan, Africa. The protagonist of the story is a young girl whose main task in life is to fetch water multiple times per day for her family, often walking miles from her home and back, carrying a heavy water container.

About the Author

Carlynn Ullrich Sherman is a middle school teacher at Barrington Middle School–Prairie Campus in Barrington, Illinois. She currently lives in Morton Grove, Illinois, with her family and dogs.
