About the Book
We all have value. No matter our age or size, we all have something special to add. Old Red has been serving the community he loves for many years. He puts out fires, responds to accidents, and helps the citizens of his community. When bigger, more modern fire trucks replace him, Old Red doesn’t seem to be needed much any longer. See how Old Red and even another friend show that even though they are smaller and much older, they are still an important part of this community. You wouldn’t think an rusty old fire engine could teach us all a lesson, but in this whimsically feel-good story, he does just that.
About the Author
Chad Naggy was born and raised in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania. As young as 7 yeas old he was memorizing poetry and writing his very own. As an avid Pittsburgh Pirates sports fan, he would write to the team annually, using all the players names in a poem to encourage them. During his high school years, Chad became the host of his very own fake radio station during afternoon announcements on most Fridays before football games. There his creative writing style continued in the form of again poems with the players' names in them or song parodies. In Chad's nearly 36 years he's experienced many losses of family, friends, and loved ones. It is through these times that he was inspired to write moving eulogies in rhyme. Through the years he's had special requests to write more for others as well. His use of verse and creativity is very moving and really powerful. Chad is married and has three elementary aged children. They currently reside in Eastern Pennsylvania. He credits his children for his continuous drive to entertain and educate through the use of verse and rhyme. His immediate family has been a major support and backbone for his work. He credits his late grandmother Jean Hudec for always believing in his talent and for pushing him to share it with the world. It's only taken him 36 years to listen and he hopes she's able to see what he's doing. Chad's faith plays an even bigger part in what he does and how he tries to communicate his messages. The majority of his professional career was in the rail industry. His family had a chance to live in several parts of Pennsylvania as well as Georgia. It is in the small town of Bremen, GA where Chad and his family started to attend worship and where his poems took on a whole new life. Throughout his various moves in Pennsylvania Chad has always volunteered at the local fire departments. He currently has over 19 years as a volunteer firefighter and EMT. Chad's goal is to encourage young readers and to let them know they have value in all they do. In a world full of bullying, crime, and desperate times, he reminds our youth that there is always HOPE and that everyone has a purpose and that they all matter!
