The move They worked the entire morning packing and throwing things away. Luke watched Sara closely. He noticed she seemed nervous while they were at her apartment. She’d jump when she heard a noise. He saw her carefully put a shoe box in the trash when she didn’t think he was watching. It was taped closed. When she left the room he took it out of the trash. It was heavy. He wanted to know what was in it. While she was busy in the other room he took it out to his pickup and locked it in his tool box. At noon he took her to lunch. Marc and his wife Jenna were in the Café. Marc waved them over to join them. “What are you guys out doing this morning?” Jenna asked with a smile as they sat down. “We’re moving Sara to my place.” Luke told her and raised his eyebrows. Marc let out a chuckle, “How’s it going?” “It’s all packed. I just need to get it loaded in the back of the truck and take it home.” Luke told him. “I’ll go out and help you load it.” Marc told him. Sara looked into his face wide eyed. “That won’t be necessary. We’ve got it covered.” “I’m sure Luke can handle it. But I’m going out to help anyway.” Marc studied her. He’d heard something in her voice that concerned him. Sara’s brow wrinkled. She sat back and took a deep breath. “Did you talk to Sara last night about what we discussed?” Marc asks. “More than meets the eye.” Luke told him. Marc smiled and listened to the girls laugh and talk. Sara joined them but he could tell she was uncomfortable. When they finished Marc picked up the bill and followed Luke and Sara back to her apartment. Marc and Luke started packing the boxes in the back of the pickup. They were packing the last of the boxes when the blinds to the living room opened all the way. Luke looked up when they opened. Sara was talking on her house phone. She had a distressed look on her face. She watched Luke like a hawk. Marc had seen the curtains open. He noticed Luke watching her closely. He knew something about Luke not very many people knew. He could read lips. He was excellent at it. When she finished her call she threw Luke a fake smile and closed the shades. “Did you see enough to know what’s going on?” Luke shook his head. “Looks to me like I need to sit her down and have a talk with her. If I read that right Sara’s got a stalker.”
