Lizzie picked up the poker that was resting on the side of the furnace and began to stoke the coals just like she had done so many times before. However, this time she noticed something was very strange. Most of the coals were so soft that with a little stoking, they had fallen through the grate but there was one that would not. She pushed the poker at it again and again but it would not break up. In fact, the more she stared at it, the more she was convinced that it wasn’t a piece of coal at all. It was much too big and its surfaces were really charred and jagged. Lizzie, carefully, positioned the poker in back of the strange object, and started to drag it towards the furnace entrance. As the object slid over the grate, a few sparks were created. As they flew up into the air, they exposed more of strange object’s shape. That’s when she realized to her horror just what it was. It was the half of a human skull.

About the Book
Murder ASAP is a mystery thriller about a sudden rash of murders in a small town. Two deterctives are assigned to the case, and realize that they have a short time to solve it. Working with a cub reporter, they gather many leads, but have no success in catching the killer until the night of the big election. John Herold is currently living in Douglassville, PA. He is married with two daughters, and three grandchildren. John enjoys his retirement after working in the aerospace industry. He does watercolor paintings, inventing new things, and sightseeing. His artworks have appeared in several locations in the local area.
