The following afternoon, Jade, Topaz and Pearl decided to skip their after school activities and set out in the direction of the strange man’s home. The house was partially hidden by the trees, and stood by itself with no close neighbors. The windows were all closed with the blinds drawn. “We have to be very quiet”, cautioned Pearl. “We don’t want anyone to hear us”. The girls walked very quietly towards the back of the house. As they neared the back of the house, they heard what sounded like a soft sob. “Did you hear that sound”? Topaz asked. “What sound”? Asked Jade. “Listen carefully and you will hear it”, said Topaz. They all listened very carefully. There it was. A soft sob could be heard as if someone was crying very softly. “I wonder who is in there?” Pearl wondered out loud.

About the Author
While her children were young, Marion Reynolds would make up stories for them as she put them to bed at night. It was very important to her that she teach them about safety at a very early age. She would combine the stories with a bit of adventure to keep them listening. Marion is writing some of these stories with the hope that others may find the stories as interesting as her own children did. Marion is a Registered Nurse who currently lives in St Petersburg, FL.
