THE POET This they don't understand The heart of a poetic man He doesn't love seeing the pit But he's irresistibly led by his spirit To different dangerous unknown limits He has come to understand That each man is an island After breaking down to stress He's retreived by sweet lonliness No aspiration to ever quit Learning as hard cold reality hits From the depths of his soul he rebounds And makes music with silent sounds Simple words become marvelous speech As sensitive hearts they reach Refreshing dying souls from thirst As food for thought from the kidneys burst, Pain depression and sadness is part of it too New colors of life from blood red to sky blue Sadness from not being understood Doing some bad while doing some good Digging inside of mankind and self Experiencing life's most beautiful and ugliest realizing that Gods' love is the strongest Living out his guilts shame and regrets Walking life's tight rope with out safety nets If you want to face life and freedom get Please enter the life of the true poet His perception of beauty is fear inspiring His words leave mediocre writers wishing and desiring Verbs nouns and synonyms are his tools Using sentences to paint the wise and the fools His life is held in like a volcano before eruption Each poem is as a spurt of love to the sun Hard to understand but fascinating and true Moisturizing dried souls with the muse's dew Enter the life of the poet and see What Dante saw in the Divine Comedy You will understand what's misundersood It'll be alright it is all good

About the Author
Louis is 65 years old, has traveled extensively over the American, European and African continents. He served a short while in the american army during the Viet Nam war.Because of conscious objection to the war he left the military. He lived in Paris France from 1967-1982. He studied French grammar, litterture and history. He is a professional Jazz saxophonist. He's played with several american, European and African musicians. His most outstanding Personal recording is "Louis Armfield Spiritual Jazz Quintet" "The Seven Spirits" Since he was 15 years old he has been writing poetry prose and short stories. He has recited his poetry in many places in Europe,Africa and America. In Paris at the famous book store/library "The Shakespeare and Company" Louis has two daughters who live in France where they were born, his oldest daughter Judith has his two beautiful grandchildren Swahiili and Paulo. His second daughter Victoria who is also French travels like her father and has been to India, Africa ,America and now lives in Bogata South America. He has a wonderful Son Raoul Armfield who is married and lives in New York City where he works at The American Museum of modern history. His youngest daughter Aisha Armfield Archie married to Micheal Archie has Louis' three grandchildren and lives in Charlotte n.c. Louis has some novels in the works and is always writting on "THE ROAD OF LIFE". Louis Armfield lives in Wilmington n.c.
