About the Book

This is a story about St. Pigolas and his team of pigs who visit farms all over the world each Christmas Eve to deliver goodies to good litt le piglets. Unlike Santa Claus who lives in the North Pole, St. Pigolas lives on a large acreage called Summerland. Summerland is warm year-round so there are plenty of vegetables to share when he makes his Christmas Eve trips. St. Pigolas's helpers work in his garden, and Mrs. Pigolas makes homemade candy in her kitchen. The goodies delivered to farms each Christmas Eve are assembled in a large barn on St. Pigolas's farm. This book is about one particular stop St. Pigolas and his team made on a farm on Christmas Eve.

About the Author

The author, Kathryn Allen, a.k.a. Clement C. Boar, grew up on a farm in Valley, Nebraska, a small town northwest of Omaha, Nebraska. Her dad was a farmer and livestock feeder who raised pigs and cattle and also grew corn and soybeans. Kathryn's father was a humane farmer who respected his animals and never would have supported the factory farms of today. His pigs roamed freely inside and outside of the barn. Kathryn's mother frequently gave her their supper leftovers for the pigs. Kathryn would go to the fence and holler, "sooey! sooey! sooey!" The pigs would squeal with delight and would run to the fence. It was a pig race to see which pig would get there first. Kathryn's father taught her everything she knows about pigs. He explained how intelligent pigs are and that they are very clean animals when raised in the proper environment. Pigs love mud puddles because they don't have sweat glands. Mud puddles help them cool off in the summer. This book was inspired by Kathryn's memories of her dad's farm and the love and respect she developed for pigs over the years. Her fondest memory was holding the baby pigs after the litters were born.
