I Am Losing Signal!

Experience is a great teacher. But rarely is the emphasis on the student. I wonder what a great teacher would do in an empty classroom, with no student! I feel like a student now. I am perhaps going through one of the most defining ‘Life experiences’ as I write this. Interestingly in my notebook’s folder is a Business book project that I had started a few years ago. Yes, a few years ago. This was a natural progression given my background in Business, and the fact that I have had the good fortune of co-authoring two books before. But I am currently more motivated to address and manifest Life issues first. Business can wait! In a world full of mobile phones and computers, as a wise man once said, “inspite of being so well connected” (technologically speaking), “we are still so least connected” (person to person). As I look around and reflect on connections (Life connections), a very common hearsay and imagery comes across, “I am losing signal!”. Perhaps there are similarities between “losing signal” and Life? A good starting point maybe to list down places where we normally lose signal. The Lift? Perhaps this is a reflection of lack of human connection as there is only so much of ‘space’ inside a lift. Didn’t someone say, relationships are also about space? I wonder where else could we be losing signal. If even frogs would use mobile handsets, and they would jump into a well, perhaps there is only so much signal one can get, in the frog’s world which is so very restricted inside the well. Talk of a frog in the well! Crowded market places may have too much of noise and clutter for people not to even realize that someone is speaking at the other end. But alas, one may infer, just because one cant hear (and listen) that there is no signal. The following pages are a reflection of my discovery as I go through Life. In the first part of the Book, I will use the imagery of calls and signals to go through this with you, reflecting on some key cornerstones of (my) Life. In the second part I will share what am aspiring to Practice to make the sixty seconds count in a minute. I must confess am far from it. Have structured these as questions that you may probably call into a Life’s Call Centre, with. And finally an Ode... You can read the Book, any which ways and hope you reflect similarly as well. I may not be wise enough to prescribe. But I am ‘experiencing’ enough to describe. As my friend said yesterday, “He who needs to learn the most, probably has most to share”. Happy reading!
